CLEVELAND, Ohio — Remember when Northeast Ohio malls were packed with families and teens buying pretzels and prom dresses?

You still can. But Northeast Ohio has fewer flourishing malls than it did decades ago, when they were the place to go to buy clothes, books, toys and basically everything else.

More closings are on the way, one analyst going so far as to say up to a third of existing malls could close.

In Elyria, the city is hoping a buyer will take Midway Mall and turn it into a success story.
