A corrections officer who served as treasurer of her union allegedly stole money from the organization. Meanwhile, police are seeking the public’s help to find the third man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Hoboken last month.
A look back at last week’s crime
The people involved in those incidents are among a group of people either charged with, indicted for, convicted of or sentenced in a wide array of crimes that made news across New Jersey in the past week.

- A Passaic County Sheriff’s Officer was charged with theft after authorities said she stole an undisclosed amount of money from her union. The 43-year-old Paterson resident was treasurer when the alleged thefts took place from 2011 to 2016.
- Hudson County authorities say a third person is being sought in the killing of a man during a robbery in Hoboken. The 18-year-old will be charged with murder, armed robbery, burglary, and weapons offenses when he is found. Two others have already been arrested.
- A 34-year-old man who posed as a public works employee is accused of breaking into homes in seven towns in North Jersey. The Hopatcong resident allegedly burglarized residences in Hopatcong, Byram, Wayne, Pompton Lakes, Elmwood Park and Morris Township.
- A former substitute teacher at Lyndhurst High School was arrested after he allegedly exchanged sexually explicit videos and photographs with girls. He was charged with possession of child pornography and endangering the welfare of a child.
- Seven months after allegedly striking and killing a 33-year-old woman outside a South Jersey mall, authorities have charged a 26-year-old Vineland man with death by auto.
- Two men and a woman have been charged with robbing a pair of gas stations in South Jersey. Cops said they recovered money and two imitation firearms.
- A 26-year-old Pennsylvania man slashed a man with a box cutter as they argued over $13 in a Trenton apartment, police said. Cops charged him with aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
- A mother and daughter from Ocean Grove were arrested during a prostitution bust at a Florida motel. The 31-year-old daughter was charged with prostitution, conspiracy and keeping a house of ill fame. Her 57-year-old mother was charged with prostitution.
- A 58-year-old man from India admitted he groped a sleeping woman on a flight from Los Angeles to Newark. He tried to buy a drink for a witness who confronted him after the woman woke up, authorities said.
