Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle King Dunlap was arrested by on suspicion of violating a protective order by Nashville police Thursday, according to records obtained by NFL.com.
Dunlap was arrested and issued a $1,000 bond amount, according to records from the Davidson County (Tennessee) Criminal Court Clerk’s office. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 7.
The Chargers did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Dunlap’s arrest.
According to a criminal affidavit obtained from the Nashville Police Dept., officers responded to a domestic disturbance call allegedly involving King and a woman identified as his girlfriend. Upon arrival, officers determined King’s girlfriend had a protective order in place against him. The affidavit states King told domestic violence detectives after his arrest that he was aware of the protective order.
Dunlap, 31, started in each of the 12 games he appeared in last season for the Chargers after signing a four-year, $28 million deal with the team in the offseason. The eighth-year veteran out of Auburn has started in 65 of the 98 career games he has played in for the Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles.
