Voters, pundits and politicians have had plenty to say about the Nov. 8 presidential election, which saw Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton in one of the biggest upsets of all time. But it is an “American Horror Story?” Ryan Murphy thinks so.

Social media has been reacting today to last night’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” when Murphy, the executive producer of the FX anthology series “American Horror Story,” told host Andy Cohen that the 2016 election will be the topic of the new season of “AHS.”

Past “AHS” seasons have featured a haunted house, an asylum for the criminally insane, a coven of witches, a 1950s “freak show,” a creepy old hotel populated by the likes of Lady Gaga, and more.

As the Hollywood Reporter notes, in his appearance on “What What Happens Live” Wednesday night, Murphy said the upcoming season of “AHS” “is going to be about the election that we just went through, so I think that will be interesting for a lot of people.”

When Cohen asked Murphy if the new season would include a Donald Trump character, Murphy said “maybe.”

Murphy said he doesn’t have a title yet for the new season, but it will begin shooting in June.
