FRANKLIN TWP. — A Salem County husband and wife are hospitalized after they were struck by a car while riding their bikes on the southbound shoulder of Delsea Drive on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
The driver has been charged with assault by auto.

Susan L. Kinnan, 57, was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital, Camden, with critical injuries, authorities said.
John D. Kinnan Jr., 62, was transported by ambulance to Cooper and was listed in stable condition.
The pair were struck by a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by Emilio Ortega III, 41, of Monroeville, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Ortega stopped at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 2 p.m. in the 1200 block of Delsea Drive.
He is charged with two counts of assault by auto and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Ortega was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility.
Delsea Drive was closed for about three hours between Pennsylvania Avenue and Malaga Park Drive as authorities investigated the accident.
The GCPO and Franklin Township Police are handling the investigation.
