River Grove police are probing an apparent homicide discovered Tuesday after they responded to a call asking them to look into the well-being of a resident, Police Chief Rodger Loni reported on the village’s Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office reported that a 44-year-old River Grove resident, Marisol Hernandez, was pronounced dead at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday in an incident that happened at her residence at 8821 Wrightwood Ave. On Wednesday afternoon, the medical examiner’s office announced that it had ruled the death a homicide, with the cause listed as "multiple sharp force injuries."
According to Loni’s post, on Tuesday at approximately 1:40 p.m., police were called to 8821 Wrightwood Ave., to check on the well-being of a resident. After entering the residence, officers discovered the victim of an apparent homicide inside the home, he said.
The incident is currently under investigation by the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force,, said Loni, who couldn’t be reached for further comment. At this time, this is believed to be an isolated incident, he said, "with no immediate danger to the surrounding community."
Loni said in the posting that police will provide an update as more information becomes available on the case.
