“The Fosters” Season 4, episode 13 saw Callie (Maia Mitchell) getting herself into more trouble.

In “Cruel and Unusual,” Callie has to stay in juvie for a much longer time than she initially expected. While there, she gets troubled by a man named Joey who is bound to make her life a living hell. Joey wants Callie to stay in juvie for as long as possible that’s why he lied about her attacking him. This resulted in Callie being sent to solitary confinement.

While Callie is completing her stay in juvie, her dad, Robert (Kerr Smith), finds out that she’s there. He is upset that Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) did not tell him sooner, but he is still willing to do everything he can to help get Callie out of the place. Robert also visits Callie in juvie with a letter from AJ (Tom Williamson) that the latter wants him to pass on to Callie.

Callie asks her dad for advice on what she should do with the options that she’s been given. First option is for her to take the plea deal and stay in juvie until she’s 18 years old. The other option is for her to not take the plea deal, air her side of the story, but with the risk that she could end up in prison for five years. Stef and Lena wants Callie to take the plea deal, but Robert wants her to go for the other option.

In the end, Callie decides to go with Robert’s suggestion of not taking the plea deal. At the fitness hearing, things are not in favor of the lead character. She will be tried as an adult, but Robert was able to temporarily bail her out.
