Theft from auto, Learidge Road: At 1:45 a.m. Feb. 6, a resident reported seeing a book bag and books scattered on the road. It was thought that the items were removed by a thief from a car.
It was not found from which car the book bag and books were taken, but it was discovered that several cars had been entered on Learidge and Corliss roads. Cash totaling $56, as well as credit and debit cards, wallets, a remote controlled drone, gift cards, medication and other property was stolen from cars owned by eight people.
No arrests were made.
Suspicion, Cedar Road: At 8:05 p.m. Feb. 11, a woman reported while at Nordstrom Rack, 25149 Cedar Road, that her wallet had been stolen from her shopping cart. While police were on the scene, the woman’s wallet was found at Beachwood Place mall and subsequently returned to her. It is not known if the wallet was stolen.
Assistance given, Overbrook Road: At 9:15 a.m. Feb. 11, a girl, 13, called police to state that she had a bad dream about rapper she had met online. The girl said the male rapper was in town for a concert and might be in the vicinity of her home when she had the dream.
She had received a text message from the rapper earlier that morning saying he wanted to come to her home to visit. Police did not find the rapper.
Drug abuse, Mayfield Road: At 2:30 a.m. Feb. 10, Mayfield Heights police informed Lyndhurst police that they were seeking a man who had been involved in a verbal dispute and left the scene prior to police arrival.
As Lyndhurst police joined in the search, officers spotted two males running through the St. Clare Church property, 5659 Mayfield Road. Police apprehended the two Lyndhurst boys, 15 and 16, who were not involved in the Mayfield Heights incident.
The boys, who are brothers, told officers they were running from them because each possessed marijuana. Police charged the boys with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse. The boys were turned over to their mother.
Domestic violence, Cranover Road: At 1 p.m. Feb. 8, a woman reported that her boyfriend had been physical with her and that he was trying to take her car keys.
The man had ripped the woman’s clothes off her and pushed her to the floor. The woman declined medical attention.
The man, 29, who had left the home when police were called, was apprehended. He was charged with domestic violence.
Theft, Cedar Road: At 10:10 a.m. Feb. 8, a manager at Chipotle Mexican Grill, 24369 Cedar Road, reported that an employee stole from the business’s register $349 in cash.
Theft, Cedar Road: At 1 p.m. Feb. 7, a man reported that his wallet was stolen on Feb. 6 while he was at L.A. Fitness, 25145 Cedar Road.
Fleeing and eluding, Ridgebury Boulevard: At about 1:05 a.m. Feb. 7, police learned of car break-ins on Gordon and Churchill roads, during which nothing was stolen. Police located the suspect vehicle and a chase ensued. Lyndhurst police eventually gave up the chase, but notified police in communities to the east that the car was coming their way.
With various police departments following, the suspects finally stopped in Novelty, Ohio. Two suspects got out and ran. The suspects were eventually apprehended. It was found that the car in which they were riding was stolen from Cleveland Heights.
Arrested were a Cleveland boy, 17, and an East Cleveland man, 18. The men were charged with fleeing and eluding, a felony.
