A threat received via phone about a shooter on the campus of Moorpark College is under investigation, authorities said.

A police cadet reached at Moorpark College in Ventura County said her department is “taking precautions,” but the campus has not been locked down, and classes were still ongoing.

“As of right now, it’s under investigation,” said police cadet Hannah Jones.

Moorpark College is at 7075 Campus Road in Moorpark.

Comments Tuesday on Twitter about the threat ranged from @erinenseyy’s 11:38 a.m. comment of “everyone at Moorpark College right now should leave there was a threat about a shooting reported to campus police!!!!!!” to @DrivinInTheSame’s 11:33 a.m. post that “As of now, there is no active shooter on the campus of Moorpark college, just a threat. If you see something suspicious: CALL 911.”

Text messages were sent out to the campus community that said if anyone sees any suspicious activity, they can report it to the Moorpark College police at 805-378-1455.
