After 12 seasons, “The Bachelorette” is ready for a shake up.
ABC has named contestant Rachel Lindsay the first black lead of “The Bachelor” franchise, sources close to show confirmed Monday to Variety.
Though the network has not released an official statement, series creator Mike Fleiss teased a “historic announcement” will be made during Monday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Lindsay, a lawyer based in Dallas, Texas, is currently competing on Nick Viall’s season of “The Bachelor.” A fan favorite, Viall gave Lindsay the coveted first impression rose on her first night in the Bachelor mansion.
As one of Viall’s six remaining ladies, with a new episode airing Monday at 8 p.m., it’s likely Lindsay’s elimination is coming sooner rather than later.
“The Bachelorette” is set to premiere later this year.
