“The city is investing significant energy and resources into lifting up the Summit Lake neighborhood, and we are happy to open our doors to host a hot lunch every day of the week at our Summit Lake Community Center,” Mayor Dan Horrigan said in a news release. “This program demonstrates what is possible when we work together.”

The Community Table feeding program is sponsored and implemented by the Salvation Army.

The agency already offers hot meals from noon to 1 p.m. at two other locations: the Salvation Army at 190 South Maple St. in Akron, and the Salvation Army Barberton Corps at 560 Wooster Road W. in Barberton.

With the expanded program, the Salvation Army is seeking volunteers and drivers to help deliver the food to the community centers. To help out, call Volunteer Coordinator Scott Robinson at 330-434-7365.
