MADISON — A building that has housed a movie theater for more than 90 years has been sold, the Madison Eagle reported.

The deal with Saxum Real Estate, purchaser of the 14 Lincoln Place structure, reportedly does not affect the first-floor lease to Bow Tie Cinemas.

Mayor Robert Conley told NJ Advance Media on Tuesday that the building has had a movie theater since opening in 1925.

Conley said she still remembers the first movie he saw there — a 1965 comedy starring the Beatles and entitled, “Help!”

Bow Tie Cinemas purchased the four-screen theater from Clearview Cinemas in 2013.

The current theater has four screens.
