Wednesday Feb. 15: Western Reserve Wines is holding a pop-up tasting featuring Francesca Conti of Mauro Molino. It’s 5-7 p.m. Environmental sustainability is a key focus of the Italian family winery in Piedmont. No reservation necessary, but call for parties of six or more. Thursday, Feb. 16: 750ml will hold a Master Somm Tasting with master sommelier Larry O’Brien at 6 p.m. It features eight 90-plus rated wines plus one wine that garnered a perfect score of 100. Thursday, Feb. 16: Portage Crossing Market District will hold a four-course Red Carpet Wine Dinner 6-8 p.m. Cost is $35 featuring Santa Margarita Winery and, yes, there’s an actual red carpet and photo backdrop, ballots and prize giveaway. Includes party-perfect dishes, wine pairings and more. It’s at 2687 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls.
Friday, Feb. 17: The Olde Wine Cellar will feature Napa Valley, California, wines 5-9 p.m. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon will be served. Saturday, Feb. 18: Heinen’s will hold Mimosa Saturday 1-3 p.m. Sample four citrus-juice creations paired with Vin Hunter Prosecco. Cost is $10. It’s at 900 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.
Saturday, Feb. 18: West Point Market, which now has a full bar with craft taps and wine, is having a wine and beer tasting 7-9 p.m. Sample 16 wines all rated minimum 90 points and cost less than $20, plus four craft beers. Amy Arida of Cutting Edge Selections will host. Wines to be served: 2014 Chardonnay, 2015 Riesling, 2013 Merlot, 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2014 Range (Syrah-Grenache blend). Friday, Feb. 24: The Culinary Vegetable Institute will hold its first in a series of wine dinners. This one features Rudi Wiest Selections and German wines, which the folks at the institute say go particularly well with vegetables. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Presentation is at 7. Dinner is served at 7:30. Cost is $120 plus tax and tip. Full bar will be available for purchase, and all wines will be available for retail sale. Call 419-499-7500. Friday-Saturday, Aug. 4-5: Vintage Ohio is 1-10 p.m. Sample wines from Ohio wineries. Wines range from Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Riesling to fruit wines made from fresh strawberries, blackberries, peaches and raspberries.
