A Queens woman was fatally mauled early Monday and her autistic son injured by a dog she had recently adopted, police said.

Louise Hermida, 75, of 27th Street had planned to return the mastiff Monday because it was too aggressive.

The dog — which she had adopted from the ASPCA — viciously attacked her about 1 a.m. Monday, leaving her face-down and unconscious in a pool of blood in her Long Island City home, officials said.

EMS informed responding police officers that the woman had suffered trauma to her upper torso, cops said.

She was transported to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Her 39-year-old son, who has autism, suffered trauma to his lower left leg and was listed in stable condition, officials said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
