The Playhouse San Antonio opens “The Secret Garden,” an adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s much-adored novel featuring a book and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon. The musical tells the story of an orphan who is sent to live with her uncle. The discovery of her late aunt’s once-lush garden and a friendship with her sickly cousin help fuel a transformation. The Playhouse San Antonio has delayed opening night of “The Secret Garden” because of the illness of a cast member. It was scheduled to open tonight.

The actor is expected to recover in time for the show to open Saturday.

Ticket holders will be able to move their reservation to another night during the run. Call the box office at 210-733-7258, Ext. 200 to do that. Those with concerns can also emailCourtnie Mercer, the theater’s sales and guest services director, at cmercer@theplayhousesa.org.

“The Secret Garden” is slated to play through March 12.
