Author name: Kevin Snow

Book title: Hell’s Angels Revisited: Fear and Loathing in California Gangland

Type of book: Fiction

Summary: “Hell’s Angels Revisited” captures a dying art form that bridges journalism with fiction and the surreal-to-outrageous and humorous ends. This novel offers a uniquely complex and poignant narrative about the ironic resilience of organized crime under the government entities meant to prevent and destroy its existence. While researching narcotics for his law school’s journal, a young man known only as “the Owl” finds himself swooping in and out of some of California’s most impenetrable and notorious motorcycle clubs and secret societies: invite-only S&M house parties, the Sinaloa cartel, the Church of Satan, Chino prison, Burning Man camps, and even the alleged Gay Hip Hop Illuminati. Written on the 50th anniversary of Hunter Thompson’s pivotal novel “Hell’s Angels,” the Owl’s trip is a psychedelic, queer-infused re-imagination of the birth of gonzo journalism.
