Suspicion, Mayfield Road:
A woman, 39, admitted Jan. 28 she was responsible for pulling a fire alarm at Gates Mills Place apartments several times over recent days. A property manager had suspected her and saw her in the area of an alarm wearing a latex glove. She told officers it was something really stupid and she was sorry. She was charged with inducing panic. She also admitted she had written vulgar statements in lipstick on her own apartment door over the previous months and falsely reported the incidents to police.
Theft, Mayfield Road:
An AT&T Mobility employee reported Feb. 1 an unknown male stole a pair of headphones from the store the previous evening. He said after an inventory, he discovered other items were missing and were believed to have been stolen at the same time as the aforementioned incident.
Theft, Golden Gate Plaza:
A woman was said to have walked out of Chuck E. Cheese Jan. 28 without paying a $340.20 bill. Officers tried calling her, but there was no answer and the phone would not accept voicemail. The manager said she would give the woman, 22, a few days to pay the bill and file a report if she did not. There was nothing further reported.
Animal bites, Landerhaven Drive:
A man said Jan. 27 he was taking items to a guest in a room at Staybridge Suites when her dog jumped out and bit him on the knee. Officers found he had a small cut on the knee, but he refused medical treatment. The woman provided insurance information and agreed to handle the incident with the man.
General assistance, Fox Hollow Drive:
A resident said Jan. 26 she received a phone call from a man who told her she owed back taxes and she would be arrested if she did not pay them. She said the suspect claimed to be coming to her house. Officers contacted the suspect at the phone number provided and told him to stop calling people. He said, “OK, OK” and hung up the phone.
Theft, Mayfield Road:
An employee of a violin shop said Jan. 27 someone had stolen credit card receipts and checks from the store. She suspected a man, who was inside the store the previous day, was responsible because she saw him walking away from her desk after she went to inquire about a price for him. The incident was documented and the staff said they would call police if the man returned.
Fraud, Washington Boulevard:
A resident reported Jan. 30 there were two fraudulent charges on her debit card account that she did not make. They totaled $45 and were identified as “Follow Your Heart” in Florida. Her bank is investigating.
Theft from building, Mayfield Road:
A man reported Jan. 27 a jewelry box, belonging to his mother and containing $200, was missing from her Gates Mills Place apartment. He said a man had been in her apartment the previous day to clean her carpeting and was in her bedroom, where the item was located. Officers contacted the company who employs the man, 33, and were told he has been employed for several years and there has never been any allegations of theft. Officers left a voicemail for the man to discuss the incident with them.
