62: Consecutive district games played by the Alamo Heights girls soccer team without a loss before Tuesday’s 3-2 setback against Dripping Springs. The Mules had gone 60-0-2 in league play since a 2-0 loss against Boerne Champion on March 8, 2011.
1,000: Career points for Clemens basketball player Alexis Popham, who reached the milestone during the Buffaloes’ District 27-6A game against Judson on Jan. 13.
Odds and ends
Judson book: Clint Rutledge, son of legendary Judson football coach D.W. Rutledge and a former state championship-winning quarterback, has written a book about the school’s football program.
Titled “The Classroom,” the book is a behind-the-scenes look at the “lessons on life and leadership” that made the Rockets a state dynasty. From 1988 to 1998, Judson won four state titles, including one by forfeit in ’88, was a state finalist three times and advanced to the state semifinals on three other occasions.
Rutledge’s book costs $9.99 and can be purchased on Amazon.com or at clintrutledge.com.
National honor: Boerne Champion punter Cade Pollard was named to Kohl’s All-American first team for the Class of 2018. It is the second straight season he has earned a spot on the team.
Pollard, who was named to the 2016 Express-News All-Area Sub-6A team, averaged 48.2 yards per punt.
