CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland man is accused of knocking out a woman’s teeth during a carjacking on the city’s East Side.

Zerick Stewart, 25, is charged with aggravated robbery in the incident, which happened Saturday at East 93rd Street and Union Avenue on the border of Cleveland’s Union-Miles Park and Kinsman neighborhoods.

Stewart approached the woman at about 4:20 a.m. near the intersection and punched her in the face several times, according to court records.

The assault caused four or five teeth to be knocked out of the woman’s mouth, records say. Stewart drove away in the woman’s car, records say.

Cleveland police found Stewart a short time later and arrested him about 6 a.m., records say.

Police did not provide details about the woman’s medical condition and a police report was not immediately available.

Stewart appeared for arraignment Monday, where a judge set his bond at $7,500 and bound his case over to a Cuyahoga County grand jury.

His initial appearance in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court is scheduled for Friday, records say.

Stewart’s only other felony case in Cuyahoga County was in 2012. He was charged with aggravated drug trafficking in that incident, but never indicted, records say.
