A man suspected of robbing a motel Thursday morning was fatally shot by police in Northeast Portland, a spokesman said.
Officers responded at 7:25 a.m. to reports of an armed robbery at the 1700 block of Northeast 82nd Avenue near Halsey Street. Sgt. Pete Simpson, police spokesman, said in a press release the robbery occurred at the Portland Value Inn.
The shooting later happened at 8300 block of Northeast Hancock Street, Simpson said.
“The suspect is deceased and no officers are injured,” Simpson said.
Police Chief Mike Marshman has arrived at the scene.
