CLIFTON — Thieves stole three vehicles Thursday morning from a used car dealership, police said.

Clifton and Paterson police responded to a reported burglary at 2 a.m. at B&M Auto Mall on Hazel Street, Clifton Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.

The suspects left by the time police arrived, Bracken said. Police said suspects forced open a door to an office, which they ransacked.

They used a vehicle parked on the lot to drive through a fence, Bracken said. The thieves drove off with a 2010 Mercedes Benz, a 2011 Nissan Maxima and a 2007 BMW.

Mohammad Jarwan, a manager at the dealership, said one of the three thieves caught on video–or someone wearing the same clothes–tried to break in three weeks prior to the thefts. He kicked the office door three times, but couldn’t open it, so he left, Jarwan said. The dealership reported the earlier break-in to Clifton Police, Jarwan said.

The cars stolen Thursday were worth around $70,000 altogether, Jarwan said. The thieves also totaled a Nissan Sentra they used to break down the fence.

The thieves took about 15 keys and license plates as well, Jarwan said.

“Probably they’re planning on coming back,” he said.
