MIDDLE TWP — Police seized 249 bags of heroin after arresting a Camden County man for allegedly selling drugs from his car, authorities said.

Robert Stewart, 50, of Oaklyn, was charged with distribution of heroin and cocaine on Friday, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Police were investigating drug transactions in 3500 block of Route 9 in Rio Grande and arrested Stewart along with another man, Eric Mate, 31, of Hamilton Township.

Police found 249 bags of heroin, along with crack cocaine and more than $1,000 in cash inside Stewart’s 2003 Acura TL, authorities said.

Mate was charged with possession and held in lieu of bail on an outstanding warrant from Hamilton Township.

Stewart is being held at Cape May County Correctional Center.
