Nobody wanted to see Brett Dier leave “Jane the Virgin,” but the sad fate of his character Michael Cordero was already in the cards.

In Chapter Fifty-Four, Michael breathed his last after his gunshot wound took a turn for the worse. His wife, Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez), was devastated.

Fans were pretty devastated, too, and one even asked Dier on Twitter what he’ll be doing now that he’s done with “Jane the Virgin.”

The actor responded by saying that nothing’s definite yet, although he has been presented with a lot of great opportunities.

Earlier, Dier told Entertainment Weekly that there’s one thing he would miss most about playing Michael.

“The love he has for Jane. The amount of love he has for Jane, and how sincere he was in that relationship. I’m going to miss that Michael and Jane relationship because I thought it was a really beautifully written relationship,” he said. “I also like the fun stuff with Rogelio (Jamie Camil). I liked the comedic moments that I got to do [and] the detective stuff was fun too.”

A lot of shows kill off important characters during season finales, but “Jane the Virgin” did it mid-season. Dier said that shocking twist was made even more impactful because of it.

“It was also a more graceful way, and it had a bigger meaning, because everything was going so well in their life and in their marriage, and that episode up to that point was so happy and then just all of a sudden, the worst thing happened,” he said.

On the other hand, executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman told fans not to worry too much because they’ll still see Michael in the show through flashbacks.

“Oh, for sure. For sure. Exactly. In her fantasies. And you will feel him, I will say, very, very much, as we continue,” she told Vulture.
