Some guests at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk were stuck in the dark thanks to a power outage Wednesday night.
The outage stemmed from an off-site issue and left parts of CityWalk and several hotels without power starting about 8:15 p.m., said Tom Schroder, a spokesman for Universal Orlando.
Power was restored about 9 p.m., Schroder said.
Tyler Ditman was near Cowfish, a burger and sushi restaurant, trying to make reservations for him and his family when suddenly everything went dark.
“It was pitch black,” said Ditman, 19. “Everything just shut off.”
He said the outage affected the area of CityWalk near a Starbucks coffee shop and several nightclubs. The blackout stretched down to the Margaritaville restaurant.
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure were not affected by the outage.
Some posted on social media about the incident, including a woman who was eating at Emeril’s Orlando when the power went out.
“Power is out on CityWalk…really eating by candlelight,” the woman posted with a photo.
Guests at Loews Royal Pacific Resort also reported they were without power.
No injuries were reported during the incident, Schroder said.
