A soft lockdown of three Elmwood Park District 401 schools has ended, according to a message posted at the district’s website.

According to a message posted on the village of Elmwood Park’s website the Elmwood Park Police Department was assisting the Chicago Police Department "on an alleged stolen vehicle incident that resulted in an accident on 73rd Avenue and Bloomingdale" Avenue. The message on the village’s website stated that "two offenders are in custody" and stated that police remained in the area.

The message on the school district’s website stated that students at Elmwood Park High School, Elmwood Elementary School and Elm Middle School were released at 4:05 p.m.

A previous message at the website indicated that the schools had been "in soft lockdown at the request of the Elmwood Park Police Department."
