Downtown Partnership of Baltimore will unveil an art installation on Valentine’s Day that aims to connect city residents to people around the world.
The Baltimore installation of Portals, a global art initiative by the art and technology collective Shared_Studios, will be outside Lexington Market, at Lexington and Eutaw streets.
The installation is a gold-colored shipping container equipped with audio-visual technology that connects to Portals in other U.S. and international cities.
Shared_Studios has established portals in Germany, Mexico, India, Afghanistan and Iran, among other countries. Other U.S. cities with Portals include Washington, Los Angeles, Milwaukee and Chicago.
