NEWARK — One man was killed in a shooting Tuesday night in the city, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.
The prosecutor’s office and Newark police department responded to the shooting on Coeyman Street in the city’s North Ward after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Katherine Carter said the agency is investigating the man’s death. His identity and details about the circumstances of the killing were not immediately available.
The shooting marks the sixth homicide of the year in the state’s largest city. A 40-year-old city man was shot to death in the West Ward last week.
