Many municipalities have different rules for snow emergencies.

Early Wednesday, communities began to say when theirs would go into place, with snow expected to start falling at midnight Wednesday and dropping 6 to 10 inches by late Thursday morning in the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey, according to various forecasts.

Hackettstown

Starting at midnight, there will be no parking allowed on any streets. Parking is allowed in municipal lots. Vehicles must remain off the streets until the snow emergency has been lifted. Notification of that will be made via Nixle Alerts (people can get the alerts by texting “07840” to “888-777” or sign up by going to www.nixle.com). Posts will go on facebook.com/hackettstownpd, twitter.com/hackettstownpd, hackettstown.net and media outlets will be notified, town police said.

Washington Township, Warren County
Runs from midnight to midnight. Any vehicles or trailers parked on the streets or highways in the township can be ticketed or towed, police said. Snow ordinances in Washington and Oxford Township state as soon as the roads become snow covered no vehicles can be on the roads. Vehicles will be subject to ticketing and or towing if they are on the street.

Wilson Borough
With the pending snowstorm, police are working with the Wilson Borough Public Works Department and will keep everyone informed if/when a snow emergency is issued. Check back for more information, police said.
