“Chicago P.D.” is beefing up its Season 4 cast. Soon after “Revenge” alum Nick Wechsler joined the cop drama as Kenny Rixton, the NBC series is adding another fresh face.

“NYPD Blue” alum Esai Morales has joined the show as Chief Lugo, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lugo is a 30-year-old cop who has worked for several years in the Chicago Police Department. However, he uses old style policing methods and has flourished as an Officer as a result of it. But now, Lugo has to lead the department and help them use a new style of policing. It won’t be an easy change for the veteran cop to implement.

Morales will first be seen in the Chicago universe in the March 1 crossover between “Chicago P.D.,” Chicago Fire” and the latest spin-off, “Chicago Justice.” Instead of each crossover episode airing on separate days, the franchise will air all of them on the same day. Which means, on March 1 between 8 to 11 p.m. EST, all three episodes of the multi-show crossover will air back-to-back.

This is a first for the franchise created by Dick Wolf.

However, Morales’ character won’t only be seen in the crossover. He has booked a recurring role as Chief Lugo. After the Chicago crossover, he will appear in multiple future episodes of “Chicago P.D.” Season 4.

Morales is the newest addition on the cop drama. Apart from him and Wechsler, “Quantico” star Li Jun Li had appeared in multiple episodes earlier this season as Burgess’ (Marina Squerciati) partner.

The cast of “Chicago P.D.” Season 4 has undergone many changes. Jon Seda, who plays Detective Antonio Dawson, has moved to “Chicago Justice” and Samuel Hunt, who played Mouse, exited the series.

“Chicago P.D.” Season 4 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
