Iris Mittenaere embraced her new role as Miss Universe and took The Big Apple by storm after she was crowned last week.
The Miss Universe 2017 winner has kept busy, as her Instagram profile would show. The Miss Universe winner sat in for an interview with “Good Morning America” Monday where she discussed the projects she wished to tackle in her new role. The former Miss France participated in the interview and had just flown from Manila to New York.
Within days of her crowning, rumors circulated about Mittenaere’s sexuality. Fans pointed out a series of Instagram pictures the pageant winner had posted to her Instagram profile that showed her with former beauty queen winner Camille Cerf. The friendly pictures left many wondering whether or not Mittenaere was, in fact, a lesbian. Many were thrilled at the prospect: Mittenaere would be the very first Miss Universe to hold the title as a gay woman.
The rumors and speculation have not been confirmed or mentioned by the Miss Universe winner.
Mittenaere did fulfill another milestone after she was crowned at the 65th annual Miss Universe pageant, which took place in the Philippines this year. She is the second woman to win the title for France.
“It’s crazy! It’s like my heart jumping out of my chest! I felt very honored like I am today,” she told the ‘GMA’ host.
During the interview, Mittenaere discussed her career goals and her plans as the new Miss Universe.
“I’m going to be a dental surgeon,” she explained on the show. “Dental healthcare is very important to me. This year I look forward to working with a group […] they do surgery for children who have cleft palates. It’s very important to me because this is what I want to do when I am a dental surgeon. Dental healthcare, in general, is important to me because it affects a lot of people all around the world, and children especially.”
