A school bus carrying special-needs students and another vehicle were involved in a crash Tuesday in Lancaster that left the bus driver and another person critically injured, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday at 20th Street E and E Lancaster Boulevard in Lancaster, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Derrick Alfred.

Paramedics transported the injured for hospital treatment, including several people who suffered minor injuries, the county fire department reported.

It was not immediately known if the second critically injured person was a student.

A pole at the location was severed at its base, said California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Nicholson.
