Nina Dobrev’s return to “The Vampire Diaries” will be short. Just a week after announcing her comeback, the actress has finished shooting her scenes as Elena Gilbert for the series finale. She showed off parts of her final day on social media.

First, Dobrev had to maintain her reputation as a prankster. She was known for playing tricks on her cast and crew during her original six year run on the show, so she needed to do something big for her come back. Unfortunately for actor Matt Davis (who plays Alaric), that meant Dobrev painted his room “Pepto Bismol pink” and left a stuffed unicorn behind as her personal stamp.

The actress showed Davis’ reaction on her Instagram Story on Monday. He was clearly not thrilled about the color Dobrev chose, but she claimed it brought out the color in his eyes. He gave Dobrev props, though. “Well done. Well played,” he said.

“The pranks never stop, no matter how long I’m gone,” Dobrev teased in the clip.

It wasn’t all laughs, though. The Canadian actress bought wrap gifts for the cast and crew. She had necklaces with keys made that say “TVD” on one side and “#Forever” on the back. She thanked the company, The Giving Keys, for rushing her custom order to Atlanta.

The “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” star also wrote a long goodbye to her “Vampire Diaries” family. She noted that her return was an emotional one. “This is my true final goodbye, as today I shot my last scene of the ‘Vampire Diaries’ forever,” she wrote. “Coming back for the series finale has been a whirlwind of emotion, nostalgia, love, tears of joy and bittersweet endings. It feels like the beautiful closure we all needed, myself included, and I couldn’t have been happier to come home to be with my ‘TVD’ set family and friends.”

She also thanked the audience and assured them that they will be happy with how the series ends. She thanked them for their support and hopes that they will continue to follow the cast and crew to their new projects. See the wrap gifts and read her full letter below:

Dobrev announced her return to “The Vampire Diaries” on Jan. 26, after months of speculation about what will happen to Elena. Her character was put under a Sleeping Beauty-like curse at the end of Season 6. She can’t wake up until her best friend Bonnie (Kat Graham) dies. There might be ways around that, though. The CW announced that Kai (Chris Wood), the witch who cursed her, will return in the Feb. 17 episode.

Kai isn’t the only familiar face returning. David Anders (John Gilbert), Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood), Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan) and Sara Canning (Aunt Jenna) have all been spotted in Atlanta with cast members recently.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
