LOS ANGELES — Light rain fell on the Southland for a second day today, and strong winds swept parts of the region, especially the Antelope Valley and the San Gabriel Mountains.

A wind advisory, indicating winds or gusts of at least 35 miles per hour, will be in effect until 9 tonight in the Antelope Valley and the San Gabriels. Winds of between 20 and 30 miles per hour are expected in both areas, along with gusts of 45-50 mph.

Overnight, the National Weather Service recorded strong wind gusts, including 45 mph at Poppy Park in the Antelope Valley and 37 mph at Malibu Canyon.

Monday’s rainfall was variable in L.A. County, ranging from no rain at UCLA to 1.75 inch in Avalon.

Temperatures are expected to climb by a few degrees under partly cloudy skies Wednesday and by several degrees more under partly cloudy skies on Thursday, when temperatures will reach the mid-70s in several L.A. County communities and the high 70s in the Inland Empire. Temperatures will fall by 10 degrees or more on Friday, when another round of rain is in the forecast.
