The day of love is not far away, which means it’s time for the Peanuts to show us how they do Valentine’s Day with “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown” and “A Charlie Brown Valentine.” Love may be in the air, but the students at the Birchwood School have their own way of celebrating the holiday.
“Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown,” the 1975 animated special based on the famous comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, follows Charlie Brown as he anxiously awaits the arrival of his Valentine’s Day cards that may never come. However, the optimistic student still has hope for future Valentine’s Days.
“Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown” is set to air on Friday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. The story will also follow other members of the Peanuts who are celebrating the holiday like Linus, who has a crush on his teacher and buys her a box of chocolate as a sign of his affection.
However, Sally, who assumes the present is for her, aims to create a gift for Linus. The two will both be in for a surprise when they find out that their desired Valentines already have plans for the holiday. There will also be an appearance from Lucy who knows how to bring down anyone’s day.
After that, the 2002 special “A Charlie Brown Valentine” will air. In his search for love, Charlie Brown develops a crush on a red-haired girl at his school. While he is busy trying to win the affection of the girl, Peppermint Patty learns that she has some competition when it comes to winning Chuck’s affection.
Meanwhile, Sally pines after Linus hoping to make him her Valentine as Snoopy works on the perfect poem for the day of love.
“Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown” and “A Charlie Brown Valentine” will air back-to-back on Feb. 10 starting at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
