Burbank picks 23-year-old Adam Colman as head football coach

At 23 years old, most recent college graduates are trying to find work and make their mark in the world.

For Adam Colman, it will be to take over the Burbank football program, which is on the heels of reaching its first CIF-SS final.

“I’ve always wanted to call plays but I never thought I’d be a head coach,” Colman said. “Maybe when I got older.

“It’s easy to say age is a number but I was the kid in the coaches meeting as a player. I’d be the kid always hanging with the adults.”

Colman, who will be one of the state’s youngest head coaches next season, takes over for Richard Broussard, who resigned following the season. Colman graduated from Burbank in 2011. He played quarterback and threw for 2,066 yards and 19 touchdowns his senior year.

He attended UCLA where he got his degree in psychology but his heart stayed with the Bulldogs as he spent some of his senior year helping with the team. Last year, he served as junior varsity coach.

“To see the success we’ve head under Bru, he’s laid something special here and created a foundation and a family feel that I love around here,” Colman said, “I’m just excited to keep the program going”
