Authorities are searching for someone who reportedly jumped from the Burnside Bridge on Monday afternoon.
Lt. Chad Gaidos, a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said deputies and fire officials are searching the Willamette River surface after receiving a report that someone jumped from the bridge.
Divers likely won’t be able to search below the river surface because of low visibility, a swift current and the sheer amount of water flowing down the river because of recent rainfall, Gaidos said. He said debris in the water could be dangerous for divers, as well.
The 911 call came in around 3:30 p.m. The river temperature is in the low 40s.
