All westbound lanes of the Queen Elizabeth Way near Burlington are closed after two vehicles were involved in a serious collision Monday afternoon.

The QEW had to be closed between Brant St., near where the accident happened at around 2 p.m., and the Guelph Line.

An air ambulance had to be called in to airlift one of the patients who was trapped in the vehicle.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the Ontario Provincial Police warns motorists that there will be congestion in the area. Schmidt also warns that the “side roads will be overwhelmed as well.”
