Chicago police responded to the area of 2900 West Adams Street about 9:45 a.m.
A 26-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder and left elbow, according to a statement from police.
The man was taken by ambulance to Stroger Hospital where his condition was stabilized.
Moments later there was a traffic crash in the area, closer to Sacramento and Jackson boulevards. A responding officer called for a second ambulance to take the person from the car crash to a hosptial for treatment.
Officer Jose Estrada, a CPD spokesman, said he wasn’t certain whether the traffic crash had any connection to the shooting.
"I’m still waiting to hear if it’s a separate incident or if it’s somehow related," he said.
