Illinois State Police are investigating a shooting on Interstate 290 near Forest Park and Oak Park after a person sought treatment for a gunshot wound at Mount Sinai Hospital.

About 3:15 a.m. Sunday, a person was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the calf, troopers said. The person told officials the shooting took place on I-290.

Information about the person’s gender and age was not immediately available.

Troopers initially searched the interstate near Austin Boulevard, but they were not able to find any evidence of a shooting.

They have since learned more information about where the shooting could have taken place, and troopers were out searching for evidence on the inbound lanes between Des Plaines Avenue and Harlem Avenue, state police said.

As of 7:40 a.m., troopers were diverting eastbound traffic from First Avenue to Harlem Avenue.
