Angry shoveler, Detroit Avenue: A man began shoveling a sidewalk Jan. 31 in front of a business without first asking permission. After he was done, the shoveler approached the business and wanted to be paid. When they wouldn’t pay, the man began shoveling snow back onto the sidewalk, and police were called. Police talked with the suspect but let him go.
Petty theft, Clifton Boulevard: CVS pharmacy reports a shoplifter took some body washes and left the store without paying about 6:40 a.m. Feb. 2. The shoplifter took off in a vehicle, but employees did not get a description.
Burglary, Sloane Avenue: Someone broke into the Peking Restaurant through a back door. The burglary was discovered about 11 a.m. Feb. 2.
Disorderly conduct while intoxicated, Detroit Avenue: Police received a call about 4:20 p.m. Feb. 2 about an intoxicated man stumbling into traffic in the street. A short time later, police received a second call that the man was now on Bunts Avenue. Police located the suspect and arrested him for disorderly conduct while intoxicated and drug abuse instruments.
Assault, Detroit Avenue: Police received a call about 7:50 p.m. Feb. 2 about a fight at a bar. Police found a suspect on Detroit Avenue near Belle Avenue. Officers arrested the man for assault, disorderly conduct while intoxicated, theft, resisting arrest, and providing false information.
Complaint, Larchmont Avenue: A resident called police about 10 a.m. Jan. 31 to report that someone entered his unlocked garage and went through two vehicles parked inside. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Suspicion, Lakewood Heights: Police received a call about 2 p.m. Jan. 31 about a man wearing a ski mask walking westbound and making “weird hand gestures” as if he had a gun. Police stopped the man and learned he was merely walking, listening to music and making hand gestures. Police advised him that someone might mistake his gestures as threatening.
Criminal damaging, Madison Avenue: Police received a call about 10 p.m. Jan. 31 from a man who had parked his car on Madison and returned to find it vandalized with spray paint.

Criminal damaging, Athens Avenue: A car owner called police about 11:15 a.m. Jan. 28 to report that within the past hour their car was broken into while in a parking lot. A back window was broken out. Nothing appeared to be missing.
