A $229 million Powerball drawing will be held just before 11 p.m. Saturday.
It airs on WABC-7 in New York City and WPVI-6 in the Philadelphia area.
NJ.com will publish the winning numbers immediately following the conclusion of the drawing.
The jackpot has a cash option of $138.3 million.
Four $1 million tickets were sold for Wednesday’s drawing — two in Colorado and one each in Kentucky and Texas. No one who bought a ticket in New Jersey won more than $200.
The jackpot for the twice-weekly drawing has rolled over 13 times since a a Pennsylvania couple won a $121.6 million jackpot in Delaware on Dec. 17. They were allowed to stay unanimous — Delaware is one of six states that allows winners to keep their identity hidden.
Last year ended with seven Powerball jackpots being won, down from 12 in 2015.
One of those was the record $1.58 billion prize shared by winners in Tennessee, California and Florida on Jan. 13. Another was a $429.6 million windfall shared by a Trenton woman and her seven adult children on May 7.
This evening’s top prize is still about $100 million shy of being one of the 25 largest in U.S. history. A $330 million Mega Millions jackpot held on Aug. 31, 2007 is the 25th biggest. It had a cash value of $194.4 million and was shared by four tickets — one of which was sold in New Jersey.
The odds of a $2 ticket hitting the jackpot are more than 292 million to 1. It’s roughly an 11,688,053 to 1 shot to match five numbers but not the Powerball.
Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
