While the Patriots and Falcons play in the Super Bowl on Sunday, police will be playing defense on the roads.

New Jersey State Police, and presumably other law enforcement agencies, are stepping up enforcement for the big game weekend, and are urging fans to use common sense when deciding whether or not to drive.

“If you plan on drinking alcohol, make sure that you either have a place to stay, a designated driver, or an available car service for a safe trip home,” State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes said on Facebook.

If you’re drinking, remember to pace yourself, the state police post said. Designate a sober driver before the party, or use a taxi or ride-sharing app to get home. And don’t be afraid to take someone’s keys if they’re too intoxicated to drive.
