A window was broken Friday night at In Other Words Feminist Community Center, the bookstore made famous in the television show “Portlandia.”
A passerby noticed the window, adjacent to the front door of the store at 14 N.E. Killingsworth St., was broken at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sgt. Chris Burley, spokesperson for the Portland Police Bureau, said Saturday morning.
Officers left a message for someone from the store and then contacted a company contracted with the city to board up windows, Burley said. The broken window was boarded up.
Burley was not able to confirm that a brick was used to break the window, as the reporting passerby had said.
A phone call to a store representative had not been returned Saturday morning.
While Portlandia brought notoriety to In Other Words, the store and the IFC cable network show severed ties last year.
