More to know: The Devils will get captain Andy Greene back in the lineup after the defenseman missed the team’s previous 12 games after blocking a shot with his left arm on Jan. 3. Greene will jump in Jon Merrill’s spot on defense after Merrill went on injured reserve following Tuesday’s 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
Forward Joseph Blandisi will make his season debut for the Devils after he was recalled for Albany on Thursday night. Blandisi will jump into the lineup with forward Sergey Kalinin, while Devante Smith-Pelly and Vern Fiddler will be scratched.
Coach John Hynes said Fiddler’s scratch was to help manage his minute with three games in four nights. Fiddler returned from a month-long I.R. stint on Jan. 21 against the Flyers.
Defenseman Seth Helgeson will also join the lineup, slotting in for Karl Stollery. With Stollery and Merrill both out, Greene and Damon Severson are expected to be the defensemen playing on the power play.
