Two young men were arrested Thursday in the savage strangulation murder of a 19-year-old New Jersey woman whose corpse has not been found in the months since her disappearance, according to published reports.

Liam McAtasney, 19, was charged with murder and his buddy, Preston Taylor, also 19, was charged with conspiracy in the slaying of Neptune High School student Sarah Stern, NBC News reported.

McAtasney allegedly choked the life out of Stern during a robbery at her Neptune City home on Dec. 2.

Taylor allegedly assisted McAtasney in carrying Stern out of her house and driving her corpse in her own car to the Route 35 Bridge in Belmar. They then hurled the body over the side of the bridge into the Shark River below, NBC said.

The next day, Stern’s 1994 silver Oldsmobile was found abandoned on the shoulder of the bridge, prompting many to initially believe that she killed herself.

Police divers and rescue boats conducted an exhaustive search of the river, but could not locate her body.

The defendants were expected to be arraigned on the charges late Thursday afternoon.
