Charged is Luke A. Turner, 36, of the 500 block of Norman Road.
Palmer Township police at 4:15 a.m. Dec. 2 were dispatched to the Walgreens, 2535 William Penn Highway, for a report of two people waiting for about 40 minutes for a man inside the store’s bathroom.
Officers entered the bathroom and found Turner pressing a paper towel against a bloody area on his neck, according to police. Turner allegedly had several needle point scab marks across his face and neck, in which police said was indicative of hypodermic needle injections.
Arrest made after Nazareth man’s ‘strange manner’ draws cops’ attention
Police searched Turner and seized various hypodermic needles, a rope, a pipe with burnt residue on it, cocaine inside a cigarette box, a plastic bag of cocaine and 26 packets of heroin inside another cigarette box, according to police.
Turner on Jan. 24 also was arrested in Monroe County when troopers investigating a theft at a Ross Township convenience store observed him acting in a “strange manner” and appearing impaired. Troopers seized six plastic bags containing suspected heroin in Turner’s possession in that incident, according to police.
Turner in the December case is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Jacqueline Taschner, who set bail at $50,000.
In lieu of bail, Turner was taken to Northampton County Prison.
