Toronto’s sixth homicide victim of 2017 — a man in his 30s — was shot in the Jane and Finch neighbourhood on Wednesday night.

Toronto Police Const. David Hopkinson said the man was found by officers inside a residential building near Jane St. and Yewtree Blvd., at around 10:20 p.m. Hopkinson said a shotgun may have been used.

Officers performed CPR while waiting for Toronto Paramedic Services to arrive. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Live television footage from the scene showed police cruisers and an ambulance parked beside an apartment building ringed with yellow police tape.

Police have not released a description of a possible suspect.

Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate.
