MADRID, 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The acting president of the Government and PSOE candidate for re-election, Pedro Sánchez, has concluded his round of contacts for his investiture with a list of economic requests from the different parliamentary groups that include changes to the Housing Law, making dismissal more expensive and end the fiscal deficit of Catalonia and other communities.
The first proposals on the economic level came from the meeting between Sánchez and the leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, where the latter demanded progress towards reducing the working day and making dismissal more expensive to, at least, recover the 45-day compensation for year worked in an unfair dismissal.
The BNG deputy, Néstor Rego, also spoke on this issue. And the thing is, the Nationalist Bloc together with Esquerra Republicana (ERC) and EH Bildu decided not to support the 2021 labor reform precisely because it did not modify the compensation of 33 days per year worked.
Now Rego has taken advantage of the round of contacts to demand a more expensive dismissal from Sánchez. But not only that, he also proposes transferring the AP-9 to Galicia once and for all and ending tolls on this highway in exchange for his yes in the investiture.
The person who also made some of his economic requests was the PNV spokesperson in Congress, Aitor Esteban. The deputy pointed out after meeting with Sánchez that he would make proposals to “retouch” the Housing Law, since the Basque formation considers that through the law the State invades the powers of the autonomous communities.
Esteban explained that he does not have “that much of a problem” with the matter to be legislated in the text, which mainly concerns the price of housing, but he does have “disagreements” over the invasion of jurisdiction.
The Housing Law was approved in the last legislature with the support of the coalition Government, ERC and Bildu. Months later, Esquerra proposed in Parliament to appeal this law also for the invasion of jurisdiction. Aitor Esteban recalled this fact and suggested that currently Bildu, whose votes are also essential to invest Sánchez, and Sumar are the “only ones who support” the legislative text.
Esteban also pointed out that it seemed logical to him to support the General State Budgets (PGE) if there was finally an agreement to invest Sánchez.
But the ERC spokesperson, Gabriel Rufián, does not have the same vision and assured that the negotiations of his formation are only for the investiture and not for the public accounts project. “Our votes are sweated,” said Rufián after his conversation with Sánchez, to whom he also conveyed his request to end the fiscal deficit in Catalonia.
On the Canary Coalition side, spokesperson Cristina Valido insisted on the transfer of pending budget items to the islands, which, according to her calculations, total just over 130 million euros.
Although the island party maintains its no to Sánchez, Valido pointed out that depending on how these budget items progress, it could be open to abstention. At the moment, the deputy indicated that the acting Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, had shown some discrepancy with the figure calculated by the Canary Coalition, and also that at the end of this month the Government would transfer part of the pending money to the archipelago.
Compromís, one of the parties in the Sumar coalition, has also demanded leveling the financing of the Valencian Community with respect to the state because it considers that the current system “discriminates” against Valencians in terms of financing.
