The consumption of automotive fuels stood at 2.102 million tons in February, which represents a drop of 4.3% compared to the same month last year.

However, compared to last January, it registers an increase of 6.8%, according to the latest data from the Corporation for Strategic Reserves of Petroleum Products (Cores).

The growth (1.7%) of gasoline in the month compared to February 2022 stood out, while diesel fell by 5.7% compared to the same period last year.

In the year to date, the consumption of automotive fuels fell by 4.5%, with gasoline increasing by 1.3% and automotive diesels falling by 5.9%.

In the month of February, the consumption of gasoline (1.7%), kerosene (24.6%) and LPG (19.1%) rebounded, while that of diesel (-4.8%) and fuel oil (- 9.8%).

Similarly, in the accumulated annual consumption of gasoline (1.3%), kerosene (25.6%) and LPG (10.1%), while those of diesel (-7.4%) and fuel oils (-7.4%) decreased. -0.2%).

As regards the consumption of natural gas, in February it fell by 4.5% compared to February 2022, standing at 33,494 gigawatt hours (GWh).

All types of consumption fell, conventional (-5%), that destined for electricity generation (-3.1%) and LNG for direct consumption (-6.5%).

Compared to January 2023, total consumption increased (14.9%), growing all types of consumption, conventional (4.4%), that destined for electricity generation (54.2%) and LNG for direct consumption ( 22.5%).

In the annual accumulated, the consumption of natural gas fell by 18.4%; decreasing all types of consumption, conventional (-15.8%), that destined for electricity generation (-25.7%) and LNG for direct consumption (-15.4%).
