Barcelona, March 10, 2023.- A team made up of five Business Administration and Management students from the International University of Catalonia (UIC Barcelona) won yesterday, Thursday, March 9, the IV BugaMAP Catalonia and Balearic Championship in a final held at the Torre MAPFRE, in Barcelona. All of them have had to make decisions related to underwriting, reinsurance, investments and expenses to ensure that their company is the one that generates the greatest value, among the four finalist groups. The prize they have won consists of an individual gift card valued at 200 euros.
The International University of Catalonia (UIC Barcelona) wins the BugaMAP Championship for the second time after winning the 2019 edition. The MAPFRE business game, known as bugaMAP, is a business simulation game that teaches university students and postgraduate students from numerous countries how the management of the insurance business works by making decisions and simulating their impact on the market share, results and solvency of the company.
In the qualifying phase of the contest, eight seminars were held in which nearly 200 students from the University of Girona, the University of the Balearic Islands, the University of Lleida, Abat Oliba, ESERP Business School, the International University of Catalonia, Pompeu Fabra and FUB Manresa. All of them have passed the tests related to this insurance simulator (bugaMAP NON-LIFE) and have had to manage the assigned companies to grow their companies and differentiate themselves from the rest of the simulated market.
Montserrat Guillén, patron of Fundación MAPFRE, and Joaquim Miró, territorial general manager of MAPFRE in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, participated in the award ceremony. Monserrat Guillén thanked all the participants for their involvement in this championship and underlined the importance of this type of initiative to publicize the insurance culture among the university public.
